The Greeks ask for wisdom. The Jews ask for signs. Those who trust in the Lord shall live by faith.
Three wise men. Their wisdom led them to follow a star. The star became their faith. When they bowed down to the King of kings, their faith from wisdom was traded for what would become their eyes. Jesus healed the sick and turned water into wine. The Jews saw signs. Jesus said if you can't believe My Words at least believe Me according to My Signs. However, the signs HAD to become faith that Jesus is the Son of God. Then faith would become their eyes that the Messiah all were waiting for would be found in the Risen Christ. Jesus had to tear down wisdom and signs so that faith in Him could be the foundation to building God's Kingdom. Jesus could then pour out blessings of wisdom and signs (through His Holy Spirit) to those who would believe before they had seen. It's His Heavenly Order that ensures and always guarantees a heart who will come to Him in Spirit and in Truth and it's absolutely genius! For a "dog turned heir" like me, my faith has (so far) been rewarded with the gift of wisdom AND signs! I, in faith and according to His Word, wait for the finished fulfillment of all things promised to the Body of Christ. Will you believe according to your faith with me? My faith is in the Lord. My boast is Jesus and His Righteousness and His Wisdom and His Signs. What I am is a willing vessel by His Grace. I believe by faith that I have what I need when I need it (and that includes the faith to write this) from His gifts to me. Without faith, it is impossible to please God! If you find yourself in need of a refreshing, reestablishing your childlike faith might be the itch in need of scratching. Hebrews 11 says it much better than me.
